Legacy: Audre Lorde was a self proclaimed “Black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet” known for her unapologetic and persistent advocacy for all human rights. Her work addressed the intersections of interlocking systems of oppression and markers of identity. From Audre Lorde I learned the dire necessity of naming oneself in with your own tongue and words. I also learned so much about the complexity of the human emotional experience from works like "Uses of Anger" and "Uses of the Erotic," which have deeply informed the way I hold space for myself and others. If you're new to the works of Audre Lorde, I suggest starting with those or with the pictured Cancer Journals.
